Check your junk mail regularly

November 14th, 2009

In my personal email folder I get about 35 junk emails a day and trying to unsubscribe seems to have the opposite effect – all I’m doing is letting them know they’ve hit an active email address and it just encourages even more junk. So I did what many people do, I put a really restrictive filter on my email to stop the junk and went through and marked all my friends as safe senders (or so I thought). I haven’t been checking my junk mail regularly and on checking it the other day I found that so far I’ve missed 2 party invitations that I really would have liked to go to – and I’ve had to explain to my friends why I didn’t turn up for their parties.

At Craftsite, occasionally we will have a problem with an order, e.g if the customer hasn’t given the first line of the address or a card making item may have gone out of stock. We use the email address given when placing an order to contact the customer – and then wait for the reply. Sometimes the customer hasn’t given a phone number so if it’s their address that is the problem there is no other way of contacting them. Eventually they usually ring up after a week or so to find out when their card making supplies will arrive – and when we tell them we are waiting for a response to our email that’s the point when they usually find the email in their junk folder.

So please add Craftsite, and other companies that you regularly trade with online, to your safe senders list – it will save us a lot of time. We never give email addresses to third parties but we do need them just in case we have to contact you.
