May 25th, 2010Card Making Tip: Tent fold v landscape cards
May 25th, 2010If you want to decorate your card, say an A5 or A6 card, with the short side as the upright and the long side as the width then cut and crease your card to landscape rather than use a portrait card as a tent fold (i.e. with the crease at the top). Tent fold cards have a nasty habit of sliding down when displayed whereas this won’t happen with a card that has been cut and creased to landscape.
To make an A6 landscape card cut an A4 sheet of card down the middle lengthways so it measures 297mm x 105mm, then crease it to form a card 148mm x 105mm. To make an A5 landscape card take a sheet of A3 card and cut it down the middle lengthways so it measures 148mm x 402mm then crease it to measure 148mm x 210mm.

Dory’s Cards
May 19th, 2010Although Dory’s card making covers a wonderful wide range of cards she specialises in quilled cards and decoupage. Quilling is really relaxing and had the benefit that you can do it almost anywhere. Customers have even been known to take quilling pen and strips on holiday with them along with some plastic bags to put the finished pieces in ready to to make cards with when they get home!
Here are the cards Dory made.

To get the right shade for the designs she is quilling, Dory often cuts her own strips of quilling paper. Dory’s tip when choosing paper for quilling is to look at the paper end on – as it will be seen on the finished card – as it can look quite different when viewed from this angle.
