Linda’s next card making demonstration will be on Easter Saturday, 3rd April, between 2.00 and 4.00 pm. Rumour has it she will be showing you how to make the new Hunkydory slider cards from the fabulous card making kit and maybe showing how to use the cosmic shimmers as well.

March 27th, 2010Fashions in Card Making
March 24th, 2010When we started a card making and craft business we didn’t think of it as a fashion industry but it is. Some products, such as Stardream card and paper, never go out of fashion. In the 5 years we’ve been doing this Stardream has constantly been one of our hottest products selling well whatever time of year it is and year after year. Even Stardream though has it’s fashions within its colour range. Opal and Quartz have, of course, always been the 2 nest selling colours but this year has seen Crystal sell almost as well, especially for weddings. Just before Christmas and into January, Stadream Sapphire was extremely popular – now we are running rapidly through our stocks of Stardream Rose. Madeleine will just have to order some more!
22 New Card Making Projects
March 23rd, 2010We’ve added more card making projects to our gallery, making 22 new card projects in total, and there are some stunning cards for you to make. Our new designer, Dianne, has produced some beautiful cards and Linda has made some lovely cards using card toppers.
Here are just a few.
Help – my punch has jammed
March 19th, 2010Q. I recently bought the Woodware full heart Silhouette punch and it’s completely jammed and won’t work.
A. The new silhouette punches have lots of little bits that can get into the mechanism when card making. Ideally you should make sure that any bits left behind are teased out after each time you use it.
To do this use a pokey tool. A pokey tool could be an old fine embossing tool, or angle locking tweezers (Madeleine’s favourite pokey tool) or a paper pricker (Linda’s favourite pokey tool). Keep going until all the bits are cleared out of the punch.
This is also true for the Martha Stewart punches which have lots of holes in them. Most bits will fall out but make sure there aren’t any bits still in there and you’ll have trouble free punching.
Where can I buy a really big stamp pad?
March 19th, 2010Q. I have a really big stamp and can’t find an ink pad anywhere near big enough to take it.
A. You can use any size stamp pad, including even our little 1 inch versacolour pads, as you take the stamp pad to the stamp and not the other way round. Take your stamp pad and keep pressing it agaist the stamp until you’ve covered the whole stamp. You’ll find that this method gives better coverage and a crisper, even finish to your stamped image.
Your Card Making Questions
March 16th, 2010Every day we get emails asking card making questions about products and we often find we are answering the same questions over and over again so we thought we would publish them here and let everyone know.
Card Making Kits
March 16th, 2010We have 3 new carde making kits. All are sumptious and absolutely packed with goodies. The first is the Butterfly dreams kit in pinks and purples.
The butterflies are over printed with silver holographic foil which really catches the light – and everyone’s attention!
The second new card making kit is Eastern Flourish and as the name suggests is full of oriental images.
In blues and pinks there are loads of card, toppers and twisted pyramid decoupage for you. And lots of silver foiled borders.
The third card making kit is Filigree Butterflies.
I don’t know what it is about butterflies but we just can’t seem to get enough of them. These ones are in creams and browns with gold foil.
All the toppers and decoupage in the card making kits is die cut so you don’t even need a pair of scissors!
Silver Holographic Toppers
March 9th, 2010Cosmic Shimmer Iridescent Watercolour Paints
March 8th, 2010As if giving you a choice of 16 colours of cosmic shimmer paints wasn’t enough to tempt you with, we’ve added another 4 colours to the cosmic shimmer watercolour paints – making a total of 21 colours available for you (blame Madeleine for this – she’s like a magpie). These can be used for loads of different card making projects. Great for rubber stamped images or adding colour to peel off images – and, of course, if you’re artistic you can paint with them.
Cosmic Shimmer Mists
March 8th, 2010Is there no end to all the card making goodies we are tempting you with? Not at the moment – it’s the time of year that’s a card maker’s delight – and the latest product to hit Craftsite are these gorgeous cosmic shimmer mists. They can be used on any porous surface so they aren’t just for card making, you can now add a shimmer to any project you sre doing.
There are 16 colours to choose from – in fact choosing which colour is going to be the hardest part.
