These instructions make a side step card using a sheet of A4 card.
To make the side step card you will need:
Sheet of A4 cardstock
Craft knife and cutting mat
Pencil and ruler
Eaziscore or scoring tool
Take the sheet of A4 card. You will need a reasonable heavyweight card of 240 gsm to 300 gsm. The card used in the illustration is Indigo marble card.
Cutting the Card
Cut the card to 280mm long.
Using the ruler and pencil measure the bottom of the card 115mm from the left hand side of the card and 25mm from the bottom of the card and mark with a pencil. Then measure the top of the card 115mm from the left hand side of the card and 70mm from the top of the card and mark.
Using the craft knife, ruler, and cutting mat cut a line between the 2 marks, i.e. starting 70mm from the top of the card until you get to 25mm from the bottom of the card.
Scoring the Card
Score the card on both sides of the cut line in the middle, i.e. at 140mm from both the top and bottom of the card.
Working just on the right hand side of the cut line, score the card at 70mm from the top. You should now have 2 score lines on the right hand side od the card.
Again, just on the right hand side of the card, score the card at 25mm from the bottom of the card. Score again on the right hand side of the card at 50mm from the bottom edge of the card.
Make the final score line on the right hand side of the card at 95mm from the bottom edge of the card.
Fold along the score lines on the right hand side of the card in a concertina (first one out, second one in, and so on). Fold the left hand side of the card along the only score line on that side of the card.
Flatten your card out again and add your embellishments.
Once you get used to making side step cards you can then try varying the height of your steps depending on the size of the embellishments you are using.
