The main give away that the card was made by a beginner is that it has too many embellishments on it and looks crowded so here a card making tip for those of you just starting out card making. Don’t over embellish your cards!

Take your blank card and lay (but don’t glue down) the backing papers, mounts and embellishments that you thought of using for this card. Now start taking them off one by one, perhaps putting the odd one back on until it feels just right. Now glue them in place and save the ones you’ve removed for another project.
