Shadowing with Die Cuts

November 2nd, 2009

Many customers use die cuts when card making either buying them ready made or creating their own using die cutting machines such as the Cuttlebug.

Creating a drop shadow adds depth and an extra dimension. You will need 2 die cuts of the same shape and one of them should be cut from grey card. Stardream silver is also fine to use for the drop shadow.

Put the grey die cut shape onto your card first. Then, using 3D foam tape or foam pads place the other die cut shape on top moving it very slightly to the right and very slightly up so that some of the grey die cut shape just protrudes from the left hand side and the bottom. Then stick the second shape down.

Her is an example using the bride and groom die cut shapes in Stardream Silver and Stardream Quartz card.
